Bander Al -Swailem
Dr. AlSwelem, PhD in child and family Studies from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, (1997), currently a faculty member at the Department of Educational Policies, College of Education, King Saud University. He served as Secretary-General of the National Commission for Children during the period 2009-2014, and member of various committees, associations and boards in the field of education and childhood. For instance, member of Saudi Family Affairs Council, member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Council for Childhood and Development in Cairo (2009-2012); member of the international experts committee tasked with preparation and supervision of the UNESCO World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education, Moscow, Russia (2010); member of the supervisory board of the child support line, the National Family Safety Program, (2010-2012); Chair of Saudi delegation to The Islamic Conference of Ministers in Charge of Childhood organized by ISESCO in Baku, Azerbaijan (2013). Dr. Alswelem participated in numerous advisory committees and research teams in the area of strategic planning, policy analysis and programs development in field of childhood and education. For instance, head of the national team to prepare a National Strategy for Children, Saudi Arabia (2009-2012); head of the project to develop teacher training package in early detection and intervention in cases of abuse and neglect, (2012-2014); and principal investigator in the comprehensive national procedural guidelines in cases of children neglect and abuse in Saudi Arabia (2015). In this guideline, Dr. Alswelem emphases attention to the Ministry of Education procedures in handling violence against children cases in schools: the subject of the presentation.
