H.E. Dr. Ali Abdelkhalig AlKarni

Dr. Ali bin Abdelkhalig AlKarni, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, received his Ph.D degree in Quantitative Methods in Education - Educational Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Madison, United States. His MS and BA degrees were also from the US. He has been working for 36 years in different educational positions. He worked first as a primary, intermediate and secondary school teacher, a Supervisor and then Director-General of the Educational Research & Information Centre, Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was appointed as Secretary-General for the Supreme Committee for Educational Policy in the Kingdom which is chaired by His Majesty the King. He attended several workshops on assessment and measurement, English language and administration. Dr. AlKarni then moved to the private sector where he became General Overseer of the Kingdom Private Schools and after that he has been appointed with a Royal Assent as Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. He is the Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Award for the Best GCC teacher, member of several committees including the Saudi Education Evaluation Committee, and the Board of Directors of the following organizations: National Center for Measurement, UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education, American Educational Research Association (AERA), and National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME). Al Karni received a number of awards: HRH Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdelaziz Award for Academic Excellence in 1991, University President Award for Public Services in 1980 from Portland State University and the 2016 Making IT Happen Award by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Denver, Colorado in June 2016. He wrote and presented numerous research, presentations, and articles. He has represented Saudi Arabia at countless international conferences and forums, and has a number of valuable contributions in the educational field.
